China's largest exportable tunnel boring machine (TBM) rolls off the production line on Mar 13, 2018

Construction of China's largest exportable tunnel boring machine (TBM) by diameter was completed on Mar 13, 2018 at a general assembly workshop subordinated to China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC).

The machine is expected to be used in a multi-lane road tunnel construction under the Karnaphuli River in Chittagong, Bangladesh, the first long and large tunnel that China has ever built overseas.

The machine, 12.12 meters in diameter and over 2,200 tons in weight, will be the largest of its kind in operation in the South Asia region.

China has entered the large-scale TBM export market, which used to be monopolized by developed countries, marking that China's design and construction ability of TBMs has entered the world's advanced level.
