China Eastern Offers Free Flights to Transport Anti-Epidemic Medical Goods to S. Korea

China Eastern Air Holding Co. Ltd (China Eastern) carried out its second free flight to transport 10,000 protection suits for the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic in South Korea on March 9.

The protection suits are part of the medical supplies jointly donated by the Charhar Institute and the Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce in Beijing.

Other donations – 100,000 surgical masks and 2,000 pieces of disinfectant products – are scheduled to be delivered by China Eastern from Shanghai to Taegu in South Korea on March 11.

It was the second time China Eastern has shouldered responsibility for transporting anti-epidemic medical donations to South Korea. The first flight was on March 2 and it carried 500,000 surgical masks donated by the Shanghai government.

During the outbreak of the epidemic, China Eastern has taken advantage of its trans-national logistics transport service experience and resource allocation capacity and coordinated all parties to guarantee delivery of anti-epidemic supplies.

What's more, the company has cooperated with more than 80 enterprises and organizations including Orient International (Holding) Co., Ltd, Greenland Group, Alibaba Group, 360, Kao Corporatio, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund and the Wuhan University Alumni Association as well as some overseas individuals to collect and transport materials for epidemic prevention and control.

So far, China Eastern has carried out 1,889 flights and transported 159,188 articles weighing 2,975.3 tons.
