Beijing subway lines break a record of 10 million passengers traveling on one day on Mar 8 2013

Beijing subway lines broke a record of 10 million passengers traveling on one day on Mar 8 2013, becoming the world's busiest rail transit network.

First constructed in 1965, the Beijing network was the first subway system in China. By the end of 2018, a total of 22 lines were running in the city and 15 more were under construction.

The construction was completed by Chinese central SOEs including China General Technology, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited, CRRC Corporation Limited, China Railway Signal & Communication Corporation Limited , China Railway Group Limited, China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, China Communications Construction Company Limited and China Railway Materials Group Corporation.

The communication signals in subways were provided by China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom.
