A signing ceremony of China's largest PPP project in transportation, supporting Chengdu Rail Transit Line 18, was held on Mar 7, 2017.

The overall investment of the project amounts to 34.7 billion yuan ($5.18 billion). Chinese central SOE Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) that active in managing electric power surveys and design as well as engineering and equipment manufacturing, is the project's social investor.

Chengdu Rail Transit Line 18 was designed to set three new records in China, namely, being China's first rail transit line with a design speed of 140 kilometers per hour, the longest one under construction that will cross mountainous areas using high methane fuel and the largest public-private-partnership (PPP) project in transportation.

Applying the PPP model, the project is expected to give full play to the Chinese central SOEs' advantages and introduce advanced construction and management to the project to create a high-quality transportation service.
