China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology (CAM) is set up on Mar 6, 1956
China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology (CAM) was set up on Mar 6, 1956 and was the only central state-owned enterprise engaged in manufacturing technology in the equipment manufacturing industry.
CAM has made breakthroughs in a batch of key and core technologies, offering support in technology, processing and equipment for the development of national economic development. Its achievements have been widely applied in major national projects such as manned space flight, the Three Gorges hydropower project and the West-East gas transmission project.
CAM has also contributed to the improvement of China's equipment manufacturing level, providing advanced and sophisticated equipment for such areas as the automobile industry, rail transportation and aeronautics and astronautics.
China's first self-built multifunctional offshore engineering ship begin operations on Mar 6, 2015
China's first self-built multifunctional offshore engineering ship began operations on Mar 6, 2015. The ships Offshore Oil 286 and Offshore Oil 291, able to operate 3,000 meters under the ocean surface, belonged to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), the country's largest offshore oil and gas producer.
Offshore Oil 286 was the country's first self-built multifunctional offshore engineering ship and Offshore Oil 291 was the first large deep-water trenching vessel in the country. The launching of these two ships filled in the blank of China's deep-water construction equipment and elevated CNOOC's position as a general contractor in world ocean engineering.
