China's first high-speed transmission earth observation sensing satellite ZY-1 entered service on March 2, 2000.
The satellite was developed jointly by China Academy of Space Technology of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE), and was the first satellite created by Chinese and foreign institutions.
It has carried the greatest satellite loads in China's history and is China's first satellite to focus on land resources, a new stage for satellite technology application.
