Construction Resumes on Middle Section of China-Russia Eastern Natural Gas Pipeline

Updated: 2020-02-27

Twenty-two workers started anti-corrosion procedures on the welding joints of the fifth section of the China-Russia eastern natural gas pipeline in northeast China's Liaoning Province on Feb 19 as the project's construction resumed.

Nine road construction sections and four field work sections of the pipeline's middle part are now underway.

Sixteen sets of mechanical equipment have been put into operation on the fifth section and 73 construction personnel are currently doing the anti-corrosion work as well as earth work.

A total of 135 builders had been devoted to construction of the third section which is located in Faku County and Kangping County of Liaoning. Eighty-one sets of mechanical equipment were used to carry out pipe pulling, line sweeping and earth work on Feb 20 and 21.

Governments at all levels also cooperated closely and approved the applications for resumption of construction in a timely manner. The local command posts of prevention and control guided the construction companies to formulate personalized prevention and control plans, which enabled the rapid start of this national key project under strict epidemic prevention and control measures.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the construction workers have been under temporarily enclosed management on the site and their presence provided a strong guarantee for the timely resumption of work.

They effectively managed and met requirements of 20 disease prevention and control measures for enterprises and employees in Liaoning, adopting meal sharing, local distribution of daily necessities and closures of stations, cars and construction sites to achieve both epidemic prevention and control and work resumption.
