SPIC Promotes Resumption of Major National Science, Technology Projects

Updated: 2020-02-27

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) has promoted the resumption of two National Science and Technology Major Projects for heavy-duty gas turbines and nuclear power development as well as other large projects on the basis of safe power production, a stable fuel supply and sound health status of employees.

Identifying 25 epidemic risks to push forward heavy-duty gas turbine project under guidance of JYKJ Plan

Presiding over the heavy-duty gas turbine project in the "Two Engines" Major Projects, SPIC China United Gas Turbine Technology Co., Ltd. (UGTC) promoted the JYKJ plan, which involves planning, budget assessment and stimulation, to prevent and control the epidemic and at the same time ensure progress of major tasks.

UGTC also systematically reviewed the possible effect of the epidemic, identified 25 risks and took specific measures for the prevention and control of each risk before the end of the Chinese New Year holiday. The company resumed work from Feb 10, and since then has steadily carried out all major tasks.

The company will continue to promote the main goals of the Heavy-duty Gas Turbine Major Project in 2020 – which are to complete the preliminary design of the 300 MW F-class heavy-duty gas turbine, to complete the conceptual design of the 400 MW G/H-class heavy-duty gas turbine, to commence work on a gas compressor and high-temperature components test-bed by the end of May and to commence work on an experimental power station by the end of September.

First RCOH for Haiyang NPP Unit 1 proceeding on-schedule

The first RCOH for Haiyang NPP Unit 1, the Gen III Nuclear Power Self-reliant Project of China, is proceeding in an intense and orderly manner as scheduled.

More than ten companies including SDNPC, SNPTC, SNERDI, China Power Huayuan Nuclear Power Engineering & Technology Co., Ltd., Qinghe Maintenance, SNPSC, SNPAS, SEP, SNPDRI and SN-Zr are working together with SPIC to guarantee the project's success.

SPIC SDNPC launched the epidemic prevention and control system by cooperating with local authorities and urgently adopting big data management on Jan 20.

Wu Fang, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of SPIC SDNPC and commander-in-chief at the Headquarters of Prevention and Control of the Epidemic, said that the company should place epidemic prevention and control on the same level as nuclear security. Both are priorities for the company.

The first RCOH for Haiyang NPP Unit 1 was making steady progress by Feb 17 and the Unit 2 generator unit is also operating stably, having produced 12.87 billion kWh of power.

The first nuclear power-based heating demonstration project in China, the generator units guarantee heat supply for local residents.

SPIC also shoulders the self-reliant innovation of China's Gen III nuclear power and is responsible for the introduction, digestion, absorption and re-innovation of AP 1000 Gen III nuclear power technology to realize self-reliance in engineering design, equipment manufacture, engineering construction and operation management of large advanced PWR nuclear power plants with proprietary intellectual property rights.
