Updated: 2020-02-27

China Silk Corporation has sent 300 tons of fresh vegetables to Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, where the fight against the novel coronavirus has entered a critical period.

Though it had already donated tens of thousands of masks and protective products to Hubei, the company took quick action after hearing of the shortage of living materials in Wuhan.

Under strict prevention and control, China Silk Corporation faced many difficulties in procurement, loading and transportation. However, it quickly formed three vegetable purchasing teams, which ran across Ji'nan, Jining and Feicheng in Shandong Province purchasing 300 tons of vegetables.

To solve the problem of transport and delivery of the vegetables to Wuhan as soon as possible, the company worked with the novel coronavirus pneumonia response leading group of Ji'nan. A team of more than 30 professional personnel loaded the goods and a transport team of 23 drivers in 10 large trucks set out on the evening of Feb 17.

Before departure, the company carried out strict health examinations of all transport workers, provided protective clothing, masks, goggles and other protective items, organized special training and formulated an emergency plan.

The workers who undertook the transportation task said that they are not afraid of the virus and are proud of their contribution to the people of Wuhan.

They arrived in Wuhan on Feb 18 after riding day and night and delivered the urgently needed materials.
