Updated: 2020-02-14

State Grid Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China (State Grid), started to allocate and deliver emergency materials to Central China's Hubei Province soon after the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) in late January.

The first batch of N95 masks, ethanol, disinfectant, sterile gloves, protective goggles and protection suits was delivered to Hubei on Jan 27 with the cooperation of State Grid subsidiaries in Hebei, Henan, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces as well as in Beijing and Shanghai.

The company also greatly contributed to emergency supplies of power for construction of makeshift hospitals in Hubei.

The electric power materials for construction of the Leishenshan and Huoshenshan hospitals, including 50 box-type transformers, 14 ring network boxes, 12.8-kilometer power cable, two pole-mounted circuit-breakers, 30 low pressure ground distribution boxes and 15.6 kilometers of all kinds of low voltage electric cables as well as insulated overhead conductors, were delivered to the respective sites within 15 and 30 hours.

By Feb 10, construction materials of the 140 makeshift hospitals in Wuhan, Huanggang, Jingzhou, Xianning, Suizhou and Ezhou, separated into 118 batches, had all been delivered to the sites, supported by 69.03 million yuan ($9.89 million) for ongoing work.

The company will continue to closely follow the demands of the anti-virus battle and do its best to guarantee supplies.
