COSCO SHIPPING Guarantees Green Channel for Medical Supply Transportation

In the critical period of prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) outbreak, China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING) is actively fulfilling its responsibility and supporting epidemic prevention and control. Towards those goals, it has opened a green channel for the transportation of epidemic prevention materials.

In order to facilitate customers' container use and cargo arrangement during this period, COSCO SHIPPING will grant special container use policies for import and export goods on Chinese mainland and waive demurrage charges from Jan 24 to Feb 9.

Shanghai PANASIA Shipping Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING, has put its 143 ships at 79 docks along the Yangtze River to transport food, fertilizers, chemicals and other goods, and gives full priority to guaranteeing import and export services in the Yangtze River region.

On Jan 26, COSCO SHIPPING's subsidiary in Jiangxi received notification that two batches of imported spare parts for the government's emergency order for 700 negative pressure monitoring ambulances had to be transported to the production line on Jan 29 after clearing customs. The company kept in touch with customs and completed the task 20 hours ahead of schedule.

On Jan 27, the government increased its orders. Some spare parts purchased from Shiyan city could not be delivered in time due to local road closures. Once again, the company opened the lifeline of material transportation.

In addition, COSCO Shipping Sagittarius, loaded with 34.88 tons of special fabrics required for the production of medical protective clothing imported from Antwerpen, arrived in Ningbo and was immediately transported to the medical protective clothing production line.

On Jan 28, COSCO SHIPPING's subsidiary in Changzhou received a notice that auxiliary materials for the production of medical masks and protective clothing had arrived in Nantong port and had to be urgently transferred to Changzhou port.

Upon receiving the notice, the company's domestic trade import commissioner immediately contacted the person in charge and the operation department to relay the customer's expedited delivery requirements.

At the same time, the company urgently rescheduled the transportation fleet capacity during Spring Festival to assist the fleet in arranging pick-up of containers at the terminal.

On Jan 29, the CSCL PANAMA of COSCO SHIPPING, loaded with more than 800,000 pieces of medical materials imported from Vietnam, arrived at Qingdao port. The cargo included 510,800 masks, 277,000 nurse hats, and 21,700 other pieces of protective clothing.

This was the first time that Qingdao port imported epidemic prevention and control materials through shipping channels. The business departments of Qingdao COSCO Shipping made all-out efforts to ensure the rapid delivery of goods in time.

Meantime, COSCO Shipping Logistics Co., Ltd (COSCO SHIPPING Logistics) has also given full play to its professional advantages, provided timely and thoughtful services for the transportation of epidemic prevention materials, and guaranteed the country that it will overcome the epidemic and maintain normal operations of the transportation industry.

On Jan 30, a transport vehicle carrying novel coronavirus extraction kits set out from COSCO Chemical Logistics base in Shanghai and drove to Chongqing.

Its task was to meet the local government's epidemic prevention needs and participate in the transportation of epidemic prevention materials in Chongqing.

The subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING Logistics in Chongqing worked closely with COSCO Chemical Logistics, and carefully planned all aspects from applying for a government pass to selecting reliable drivers for the transportation, ensuring the vehicle conditions, and making every effort to complete the mission.

During the critical period of epidemic prevention and control, COSCO SHIPPING Air Freight Co., Ltd (COSCO Air) promised to provide free air customs clearance services for donated materials.

It successively completed the custom clearance of 100,000 medical masks donated by a large multinational clothing company from Japan to Shanghai and anti-epidemic materials donated to Hubei Charity Federation by the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia.

On Jan 28, 100,000 medical masks donated by a large multinational clothing company in Japan arrived in Shanghai. COSCO SHIPPING's subsidiary in Shanghai provided efficient and free customs clearance services to the donated resources.

On Jan 29, the China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia donated 44,000 surgical masks to the Hubei Charity Federation. COSCO SHIPPING's subsidiary in Guangzhou actively coordinated and provided customs clearance and ground operation services for free.

During the Spring Festival, employees of COSCO SHIPPING in Shanghai stuck to their post at the WuSongKou International Cruise Terminal and helped Spectrum of the Seas, MSC Splendida, Piano Land and other ships dock.

By Jan 28 the company had received more than 20,000 cruise passengers, and also actively cooperated with the customs and border inspections to handle multiple emergencies during cruise pick-ups.

Overseas employees of COSCO SHIPPING also joined the international donation logistics volunteer team and helped overseas Chinese make donations with easy custom clearance and logistics.

The staffs of CUIC adhered to their posts and completed more than 102 inspections of ships and 95 orders for laboratory testing.

The tallymen of CUIC in Lianyungang completed the inspection and identification of 11 general cargo ships, five container ships, and 18 bulk cargo ships.

Apart from that, the subsidiaries in Dalian and Chongqing fully cooperated to keep the transportation unblocked for cereal transportation from the north to south and provided a solid guarantee for normal cereal supply in Chongqing and surrounding areas.
