First large-scale nuclear power generator unit for commercial use in the Chinese mainland starts operation on Feb 6, 1994

The No. 1 generator unit of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant in Guangdong Province went into operation on Feb 6, 1994.

It was the first large-scale nuclear power generator unit for commercial use in the Chinese mainland.

Jointly invested, constructed and operated by China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) and CLP Holdings Limited, the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant brought advanced technology, equipment and investment into China.

It was confirmation of the Chinese nuclear power industry's leapfrog development and laid a foundation for the country's future nuclear industry.

The operation also contributed to economic and social development in Macao and Hong Kong.

The first prototype antenna for the world's largest aperture synthesis radio telescope debuts on Feb 6, 2018

SKA-P, the first prototype antenna for the world's largest aperture synthesis radio telescope, was released to the public by China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) on Feb 6, 2018.

Primarily developed by China, the SKA project contributed to the world's largest aperture synthesis radio telescope, which was the largest astronomical facility at that time in the world.

Invested by many countries, the prototype was a main achievement of the project and a reflection of Chinese technical expertise and problem solving ability.
