A large-scale all-cargo carrier of China Eastern Air Holding Co. Ltd (China Eastern) landed at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport on Jan 26, carrying more than 17 tons of materials including various kinds of masks from Manila, the Philippines.
More than 273,000 N95 masks and nearly 2.9 million medical surgical masks were included in the materials which were collected and purchased by Wuhan-based ZALL under commission by the Wuhan government.
China Eastern also transferred 136 medical staffs and nearly 4.7 tons of medical materials from Shanghai to Wuhan on Jan 25.
An airline with rich experience in transportation of disaster relief materials, China Eastern was one of the first to response to the Civil Aviation Administration of China's notification on transportation of overseas materials for disease prevention and control.
The B777 aircraft, serving China Cargo Airlines of China Eastern's subsidiary Eastern Air Logistics Co., Ltd. (EAL), was appointed to undertake the mission as the materials are light but with large volume.
As large-scale all-cargo carriers have no registration records in the destination country, the company also urgently made applications and allocated personnel to obtain local landing approvals, which guaranteed in-time transportation.
