A large-scale all-cargo carrier of China Eastern Air Holding Co. Ltd (China Eastern) landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Jan 31, carrying 249,600 protection suits and 136,000 masks from Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The overseas materials were purchased by Orient International (Holding) Co., Ltd. and were the first epidemic prevention and control materials transported by a chartered flight to Shanghai.
The flight was undertaken by China Eastern's subsidiary Eastern Air Logistics Co., Ltd. (EAL).
An air-land joint logistics service company, EAL has capacity for plan service logistics resource allocation.
Dedicated to the anti-coronavirus battle, the company coordinated its overseas stations and international airports to improve efficiency of packaging, freight notes preparation and customs clearance and to make adjustments required by a freight carrier's adaption to passenger flight routes.
With the support of ground services in Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, the company quickly collected, transferred and distributed the cargo.
So far, China Eastern, in cooperation with enterprises and organizations, has transported more than 200 tons of emergency materials from countries and regions including France, the United States, Australia, the Netherlands, Singapore, Japan and Myanmar.
It has also offered ground services for medical teams from regions like Shanghai, Xi'an, Taiyuan, Kunming and Lanzhou.
