Kunlun station, China's first inland research station in Antarctica, is completed on Jan 27, 2009
China's first inland research station in Antarctica — Kunlun station — was established on Jan 27, 2009.
Constructed by China Railway Group Limited, China Communications Construction Company Ltd., and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, Kunlun station is built on the highest point of the Antarctic ice sheet.
It was also the third scientific research outpost in the Antarctic after the Changcheng and Zhongshan stations, realizing the historic leap of Chinese Antarctic exploration from the edge of the Antarctic continent to the inland area.
World's largest UHV power transmission project completed on Jan 27, 2014
The 800 kV ultra-high voltage (UHV) direct current (DC) power transmission project from Hami in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to Zhengzhou in Henan Province, was completed and started operation on Jan 27, 2014.
Constructed by State Grid Corporation of China, the project was independently designed, manufactured and constructed by China.
The world's largest DC transmission capacity project, it has an annual power transmission capacity of nearly 50 billion kWh, making it a "power silk road" connecting western China's border areas with the central plains.
Its operation improves the development and utilization of energy resources and alleviates the shortage of power in central and eastern China.
