The first China-developed large-diameter slurry-balanced tunnel boring machine (TBM) rolled off the production line on Jan 18, 2018.

The machine, with complete proprietary intellectual property rights, was used for the heating pipeline project going through the Yellow River and was jointly developed by China Railway Construction Corporation Limited and China Huadian Corporation Ltd.

With an excavation diameter of 9.05 meters, the 132-meter long machine weighs about 1,500 tons and has an installed capacity of 3,500 kW.

It took only two months to design, assemble materials and manufacture the machine.
