LKW-3 satellite launched on Jan 13, 2018

The LKW-3 satellite was put into orbit by a Long March 2D carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China's Gansu Province on Jan 13, 2018.

The carrier rocket had also sent the Gaojing-1 02 satellites aloft on Jan 9, 2018. Later on Jan 12, the Long March 3B carrier rocket, jointly with Yuanzheng-1 (Expedition-1), had launched the third and fourth Beidou navigation satellites into space.

It was the first time China had undertaken three launches in five days and two in two successive days.

Sinopec Group launches its first overseas research institute on Jan 13, 2014

China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group) opened its first overseas research and development center in Houston, the United States on Jan 13, 2014, marking the beginning of the company's technological and innovative methodology.

An international petroleum and petrochemical industry center, Houston has rich advantages in talents and information on rapid technology development in the oil field which were fully used by Sinopec Group to build an open scientific research platform supported by innovation-driven development.
