China Builds World's Largest Single Aperture Radio Telescope

The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST) in Southwest China's Guizhou Province was completed and started operation in 2016.

The world's largest single aperture radio telescope, FAST has a signal reception area equaling 30 standard football pitches.

Equipped with 4,450 lenses, the facility weighs more than 2,000 tons.
