China Southern Becomes Asia’s First Qualified Baggage Tracking Hub

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Dec 18 announced that China Southern Airlines Co., Ltd. (China Southern) has obtained baggage tracking hub certification, the first in Asia and the world's sixth.

According to the IATA, China Southern has a clear and efficient management plan on baggage in a large-scale automatic airport and the tracking data including processes like check-in, pick-up, transportation, uploading and arrival been fully implemented for an improved baggage service.

To date, the airline has opened baggage tracking inquiry service for more than 800 flights per day in 27 domestic and foreign airports including those in Guangzhou, Beijing, Los Angeles and London.

Status information of the baggage is also sent to passengers who are the Sky Pearl Club members.

The airline will open baggage tracking service in more airports and make efforts to widen coverage and share cross-airline baggage data to improve passengers' travel experience.
