The world's largest crude distillation tower, part of the Dangote refinery and petrochemical project in Nigeria, was hoisted successfully on Dec 17 local time.
Contracted by China National Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNCEC), the 12-meter diameter and 112.56-meter high tower weighs 2,252 tons. It is a main part of the crude distillation unit (CDU).
The tower was the last 2,000-ton level facility needed to be hoisted in the project. The previous heavy facilities hoisted included a 2,760-ton reproducer and a 1,761-ton reactor as well as other devices.
