Main roadbed construction of the Shishinda-Tepi Road Project in Ethiopia is underway.
Contracted by China Railway 21 Bureau Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), the 76.6-kilometer road starts from the Keffa Zone and will pass through 12 villages and end at the Sheka Zone in YeDebub Bihēroch Bihēre-seboch na Hizboch.
The project includes five bridges, 95 pipe culverts, 45 slab culverts and subgrade earthwork and will be built to Ethiopian DC5 pitch road grade requirements.
To date, project's camps of the construction and supervision have been established and the experiment labs have passed inspection.
A rock-crushing plant will soon go into operation and pipe culverts are already under production by the pre-fabrication group.
The road is scheduled to be built in four years and is expected to greatly improve local traffic and transportation conditions.
CRCC has been concentrating on overseas projects in recent years and has contracted five projects in East Africa, namely, the A109 highway in Kenya, the Gambela, Shishinda and Jimma roads, and the headquarters of a sugar mill in Ethiopia.
