A test base integrating a medium and low-speed maglev rail line, a straddle type single track, a suspended monorail line, and rack rail was completed and started service in the Changsha Second Industrial Park of China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation Limited (CRCHI) on Oct 19.
A total of 13 novel products for traffic maintenance and detection test including a straddle monorail smart detection vehicle, a maglev patrol robot, a suspended monorail track inspection instrument and a smart fastening vehicle for spring catch fasteners on steel rails were developed, making the base the first of its kind in the world.
The medium and low-speed maglev test rail has a horizontal curve radius of 75 meters and can offer checking, adjustment and testing services for operation and maintenance vehicles including freight maglev trains, comprehensive maglev work cars, and smart maglev detecting vehicles.
The straddle type single track and the suspended monorail lines are mainly used for testing, adjustment, and experimentation of maintenance devices.
Many of the newly developed products are the first in China's new type rail traffic maintenance and detection equipment, according to the director of the Transit Equipments Design & Research Institute of CRCHI
They are significant in improving the country's competitiveness in the whole industrial chain of new type rail traffic.
