The Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center, the largest of its kind in the world, was completed on Sept 28. It will promote economic growth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

It is expected to hold its first exhibition from Nov 4 to 6.

The center is the largest individual building in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province and the first engineering project to undertake large-scale construction, rail transit, water conservancy and municipal engineering at one time in the world.

Dubbed "the largest living room in the world", the center set eight world records.

It has a building area equal to that of six National Stadiums and a steel mass the same as that of 39 Eiffel Towers.

Its roof is as large as 106 standard football fields and is decorated with colorful belt patterns to represent the Maritime Silk Road.

The center is an ultra-large convention complex integrating exhibitions, conventions, events, and catering, shopping and office services.

It features 16 20,000-sq m standard exhibition halls, one 50,000-sq m super large exhibition hall, two 20,000-sq m multi-functional display halls, two registration halls and one reception center.

More than 20,000 builders participated in its construction and over 300 hoisting machines were used.

Many advanced technologies with proprietary intellectual property rights such as unmanned aerial vehicles, black boxes and cloud platforms were also adopted during construction to improve engineering efficiency and quality.

The center was jointly contracted by several companies including China Construction First Group Corporation Limited, China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd, China Construction Steel Structure Corp. Ltd., China Construction Industrial & Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., China State Decoration Group Co., Ltd and China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd. All are subsidiaries of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC).
