Repair Vehicle's Evolution Contributes to Improved Power Supply Service

Updated: 2019-09-23

Liu Yuanping has been working at the power supply bureau in Jingning county of State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. for years. Over all that time the vehicles he uses for power line repairs have "evolved" as much as he has.

Liu recalled that his first means of transport was a bicycle which was allocated to him by the power bureau.

A total of three such bikes were bought by the bureau in 1989 and were assigned numbers "161", "162" and "163". The last was the one Liu used for years.

The bikes brought convenience to Liu and his colleagues. Whatever the weather, Liu and his colleagues would ride their bicycles to repair and check the power lines.

As the bureau's power supply area expanded, a second-hand 80-type motorbike was introduced to Liu's bureau in 1994, which greatly reduced time spent traveling to the repair sites.

"As for '163', I spent 30 yuan to buy it from the station," said Liu.

To meet the demand of a rural grid renovation project in 2001, two more motorcycles were bought.

In the next few years, trucks and many other kinds of special vehicles were allocated to power supply bureaus. They not only protected workers from heavy rains and scorching climate, but also contributed to faster and better service.

The evolution of vehicles is a transformation in transportation and a epitome of grid development. It also reflects the improvement in quality and service of electricity supply in China.
