POWERCHINA Wins Contract for China's First Highway Project in Poland

Updated: 2019-09-02

Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) signed the contract to design and build the West S14 ring road in Lodz, Poland on Aug 22.

It is the first road construction project a Chinese enterprise has contracted in the country in the past ten years, and a significant step in infrastructure construction cooperation between the two countries.

Located in Lodz, Poland's third largest city, the project is scheduled to be completed in 35 months.

It includes design and construction of a 16-kilometer four-lane highway and building of supporting facilities such as a drainage system, supply of environmental protection equipment, and installation of roadway lighting, fencing and greening as well as some dismantling work.

Lodz will become the country's first city with a fully developed expressway that encircles the city when the highway is completed, which will consolidate its position as a logistics and transportation hub.

POWERCHINA has fulfilled its missions and met European requirements on quality, environmental protection and security through communications with local enterprises, buyers and native engineers, raising employment and awareness of contract obligations among local workers while making full use of local resources.

In the past five years, the company has undertaken five projects in flood control and flood control reservoirs construction, power transmission and transformation and the current highway design and building program.

The Wroclaw flood control project was completed last January, and was the first China-contracted project to gain a European performance certificate.

The project greatly improved the flood prevention capacity of the city, improved the scenery along a river and created a large number of local jobs, winning the company the title of "a most reliable international contractor in Poland".

POWERCHINA's performance in the project also deepened Poland's trust in Chinese enterprises.
