Beam construction of both the highway and railway segments of the Sanmenxia Yellow River highway and railway dual-use bridge was completed on Aug 9.
The concreting took 16 continuous hours and used 930 cubic meters of concrete.
Built by China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group 4th Engineering Co., TLD., the bridge is a section of the western Inner Mongolia-to-central China railway.
The continuous beam of the bridge's south approach is 296.154 meters and the reinforcing steel bars used in the highway beam are 1,283.2 tons and the beam was concreted with 6,259.6 cubic meters of concrete in total.
To guarantee smooth construction, builders developed several engineering solutions such as large-span high-pier composite supporting brackets for concreting and concreting brackets with a complicated ultrahigh post-and-beam structure.
The bridge is scheduled to open to traffic on Oct 1.
