China Develops First 10-megawatt Offshore Wind Driven Generator

Updated: 2019-08-30

China's first 10-megawatt offshore direct-driven permanent magnet wind driven generator with complete proprietary intellectual property rights was completed on Aug 21.

The generator will be shipped to Fujian Province and be installed in the Xinghua Bay Wind Farm.

Developed by Dongfang Electric Corporation, the wind driven generator has large size and accurate processing.

It has many advantages in electromagnetism, ventilating, insulation, corrosion prevention and structure.

Key bottlenecks were overcome to manufacture a reliable, advanced and economically efficient machine.

The generator passed electric motor tests on its first attempt with all indexes meeting requirements.

The successful test is proof that China for the first time has mastered the ability to develop and manufacture high-power offshore direct-driven permanent magnet wind driven generators.

The breakthrough contributes to China's evolution into a strong country in wind-driven power.
