CSIC Wins Bid for Ulaanqab's Wind Power Base

China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) Haizhuang Windpower recently won the bid for the construction of the third section of the six-million kW demonstration project in Ulaanqab, Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The project is a part of the first phase of State Power Investment Corporation Limited's wind power base project and includes the construction of the first and third board girders of the wind power plant.

The plant will feature equipment valued at more than 3.5 billion yuan ($522.65 million) which will be able to produce 900,000 kW of power.

According to the company, it will be an individual overland wind power project with the largest development scale in one continuous phase in the world.

The project, located in Siziwang Banner in Ulanqab, with about 42 billion yuan investment, will be able to produce six-million kW of power on the 3,800 sq km field when it is completed.

The power will be engaged in the electricity market in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region following the principle of generating electricity from renewable energy sources .

In addition, the plant will transfer about 18.9 billion kilowatt hours of green power to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region annually and will contribute to air pollution control in Beijing and its surrounding areas, as well as support the 2022 Winter Olympics.

The project will be completed within two years.
