Chinese Central SOE Completes HPP Project in Uzbekistan

Updated: 2019-04-11

The Tuyabuguz Hydropower Plant in Uzbekistan, contracted by Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC), was recently completed after 14 months' construction.

More than 400 guests from Uzbekistan, China and other countries attended the completion ceremony.

The plant, located downstream from the Akhangaran River's Tuyabuguz reservoir in the Tashkent region, is the first completed project that arose from the energy agreements between the two countries' governments signed at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in May 2017.

DEC won the bid to provide 20 generator units of eight power stations of the first and second group of projects under the framework of the Chinese and Uzbek governments' agreements.

According to the contracts, DEC is in charge of the design, supply, installation and adjustment of the plant's electro-mechanical equipment system.

Other power station projects will be completed in two years.

Loans of the cooperation projects were provided by the Export-import Bank of China which finished financing within three months to support the project.
