PowerChina Constructs World's Largest oil Fired Power Plant in Saudi

The second unit of world's largest oil fired power plant in Saudi Arabia paralleled in on March 13 with all equipment operating well.

Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) Yanbu 3 Power Plant, constructed by SEPCO Ⅲ Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina), is the largest oil fired power plant in terms of its scale under construction in the world.

The project, as an important one to improve people's livelihood, has raised high concern from all aspects in Saudi Arabia. Undertaking this project will help PowerChina better promote the brand in Middle East market.

The engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract was signed on May 7, 2017 and the construction began on May 17 the same year. During the construction, SEPCO Ⅲ has applied advanced management and manufacturing systems meeting international standards to push forward the efficient and high-quality construction.

By now, 65 percent of the project has been finished. It has provided more than 13,000 employment opportunities for over 10 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and has provided strong power for the development of Saudi Vision 2030.
