China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), after 38-months of great effort, has completed the construction of the Poyang Lake No 2 Bridge.

The bridge is an essential part of the Duchang-Jiujiang highway in Jiangxi province and the longest one crossing Poyang Lake. It is a 5,589-meter cable-stayed bridge, with a main span of 420 m.

The cable-stayed bridge is located at the Laoye Temple waters known as the terrifying Bermuda Triangle of China. The water area has a complicated hydrological condition and its water level can change by up to 10 meters.

The tough conditions didn't stop the CCCC construction team. They made technological innovations to tackle the problems of pillar construction, ensuring their quality and beauty.

Apart from considering the technical difficulties, the team needed to pay a lot of attention to environmental and ecological protection as the engineering site covers two national nature reserves where finless porpoises, as precious as pandas, live.

The completed Poyang Lake No 2 Bridge has become an architectural landmark in the Laoye Temple resort. It has profound meaning for the connections between Duchang county, Jiujiang and Nanchang city in Jiangxi province and enables the province to better interact with South China, bringing it more opportunities to be involved in globalization.
