A completion ceremony for the reservoir of the Djibloho hydropower plant, undertaken by Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) opened on Dec 1 in Equatorial Guinea.

Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of Equatorial Guinea, attended the ceremony and spoke highly of the project's quality. He said that the regulating reservoir will make power available to the Equatorial Guinea's mainland region 24 hours a day. The project will not only channel clean power to the locals, especially rural residents, but create huge employment opportunities, which will help to boost national economic and social development.

Miguel Ekua Ondo, Minister for Industry and Energy in Equatorial Guinea, said that the reservoir's operation will drive power prices down and help bring electricity to every household.

Djibloho hydropower plant construction started in April 2008 and finished in October 2011. The plant is responsible for 90 percent of the country's power supply.
