Guiyang-Weng'an expressway receives globally authoritative award

Guiyang-Weng'an expressway, a project of CCCC Highway Consultants Co Ltd, received an Award of Special Merit from the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) at the federation's annual meeting held from Sept 9 to 11 in Berlin, Germany.

The FIDIC is the most authoritative engineering industry consulting organization recognized by the World Bank. Its awards, therefore, are very credible, and are regarded as the "Nobel Prize" in global engineering consultancy.

Innovation, transparent operation, environmental awareness and sustainable development are measures of the awards, all of them met with precision by the Guiyang-Weng'an expressway.

The 71-km expressway is an essential section from Yinchuan to Baise in Guizhou province. Complex geological conditions, such as karst, bedding, soft soil and high liquid limit soil, were hard problems tackled by the project operator through advanced designs and technologies as well as principles of land conservation, ecological restoration and sustainable development.

The Guiyang-Weng'an expressway was the fifth project of CCCC Highway Consultants Co Ltd to receive an FIDIC award, following the Sutong Bridge, the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the Xihoumen Bridge and Jiashao Bridge.

Twenty-two projects from many countries and regions including China, the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, and the Republic of Korea were nominated for FIDIC awards.
