China’s second aircraft carrier begins first sea trial

China's second aircraft carrier - the first one to be designed and produced domestically - carried out an offshore test mission from a dock of Dalian, China’s Liaoning province on May 13, checking and verifying its reliability and stability of its power system and other equipment.

The development and construction of the aircraft carrier indicates that China has mastered the ability to build both medium-sized and large aircraft carriers.

The aircraft carrier, designed and constructed by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, was launched in April 2017. As it has finished testing equipment, outfitting, and related mooring trials, it is equipped with technical conditions for the trial.
