China's Long March Carrier Rocket Sends New Communication Broadcasting Satellite into Space

A Long March 7A carrier rocket was launched from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in South China's Hainan Province on Sept 13, sending the Zhongxing-1E satellite into selected orbit.

Developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the Long March 7A carrier rocket is a new generation medium-sized high-orbit three-stage rocket propelled by liquid fuel.

The carrier rocket used in the launch mission on Sept 13 is 60.1 meters long and has a 4.2-meter diameter fairing. Its take-off weight was about 570 metric tons and its take-off thrust reached 727 tons.

The Zhongxing-1E communication and broadcasting satellite was developed by the China Academy of Space Technology. It will mainly provide high-quality calls and transmission of communication data of broadcasting and television services.

The launch on Sept 13 was the 437th mission for the Long March series carrier rockets.
