CHD Hoists Its First Offshore Wind Blower

Updated: 2020-09-15

China Huadian Corporation Ltd. (CHD) completed hoisting of the first wind blower at the Fuqing Haitan Strait offshore wind farm in Southeast China's Fujian province on Sept 5.

Located at the north central area of the Haitan Strait, the project was CHD's first offshore wind project and has a total installed capacity of 300 megawatts. It will be able to produce about 1.13 billion kWh of power annually once operable.

The power equals that released by burning 319,200 tons of standard coal, eliminating equivalent emissions of about 939,100 tons of carbon dioxide.

Approved in December 2016, construction of the main part of the project began in November 2019. It is scheduled to be in full operation in 2021.

Construction of the project has blazed its way forward despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Basic concreting of the first wind blower was completed on May 27, and the first 7 MW generator unit rolled off the production line on June 30.

So far, major engineering including construction of the 18 foundation pile caps of the offshore blowers, concreting of six basic pile caps and installation and adjustment of the land booster station has been completed and the second wind blower is ready for hoisting.
