World's First New-Type Rail Wheel Detector Passes Trial Testing

Updated: 2020-05-25

A new-type X-Fire wheel detector recently completed rail testing at Shuohuang Railway Development Co., LTD of China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy). It is the world's first of its kind and the latest rail flaw detector for 75kg/m rails.

The new wheel detector was jointly developed by Shuohuang Railway Development Co., LTD and the United States-based Sperry on the basis of previous standard wheel detectors.

During the testing, a dynamic comparison between the new and previous detectors was carried on along the 810-kilometer railway between Suning North Railway Station in Hebei province and Shenchi South Railway Station in Shanxi province.

The testing showed that the new X-Fire detector performs better in detecting track flaws and can be put into practical use.

It also played a role in advancing the detector's capacity and improving the stability of rail equipment, thus guaranteeing safe journeys.
