One Trillion-output Gas Zone in Tarim Oilfield

Updated: 2019-10-12

The Bozi No.9 well in Tarim Oilfield, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, obtained high-yielded industrial oil and gas flow on Oct 3.

The flow's yield is equal to daily output of 418,200 cubic meters of natural gas and 115.15 cubic meters of condensate oil, making the field another 100 billion-output gas reservoir found in southern Tianshan Mountains and the second gas zone in Tarim Oilfield with a trillion cubic meters of gas.

Tarim Oilfield is developed and managed by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

Since the beginning of this year, the company has sped up to achieve its goal to build an oil and gas field with 30 million-ton output.

Bozi No. 9 well and Dabei No. 17 are listed among the key exploration wells.

According to Tian Jun, deputy general manager of CNPC's subsidiary in charge of the oilfield's operations, the discovery was proof of large reserves in the Bozi-Dabei gas area.

The Tarim Basin is home to more than 80 percent of China's proved reserves of deep condensate oil and gas.

To date, 14 ultra-deep and high pressure complex condensate fields have been developed. They can produce more than two million tons of condensate oil and 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.

China has built the world's largest ultra-deep condensate oil and gas production base, making the country a leading player in the industry internationally.
