CNNC, UAE Innovate in China's Nuclear Industry 'Going Global'

Updated: 2019-07-31

China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) enterprises signed a memorandum of understanding and a cooperative agreement on establishing a treasury, investment and financing center on July 22.

The new center will be a concrete resource for enterprises in China and the UAE to deepen the Belt and Road Initiative and China-UAE strategic cooperation and an innovative platform for both sides to explore a sustainable development mode integrating industry and finance.

The cooperation will be a reliable guarantee for the export of the production capacity of China's nuclear industry and a way for the world to share the achievements of China's nuclear energy development.

According to the agreement, CNNC and UAE enterprises will join hands in the field of nuclear energy, prepare for the establishment of an overseas full-industry chain operation platform and an investment and financing platform, and explore the "Industry + Finance + Overseas Market" development mode of China's nuclear industry under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

China and the Arab countries are natural partners in the implementation of the initiative, and sustainable development plays an important role in their bilateral cooperation.

In recent years, the development of clean energy has made great progress in the UAE. Plans have been launched to purchase, design and build a number of nuclear power units.

CNNC has always maintained close ties with enterprises and institutions in the UAE, and has carried out exchanges and cooperation in nuclear energy research and development, nuclear technology application, engineering construction, and talent exchange and training.
