Construction of the main structure of the China-Serbia Bridge cross Sava River and Kolubara River was completed on June 30, two months ahead of schedule.
Stretching over the Sava River, the bridge is a main passage linking Obrenovac and Surcin. It shortens travel time between the two cities by more than half an hour.
A project of general contractor Road & Bridge International Co., Ltd. and built by CCCC Second Harbour Engineering Company Ltd., the bridge is the key part of Serbia's E763 expressway project which connects Serbia to the marine outfall of Montenegro, the Balkan region and neighboring countries.
The 1,581-meter bridge, with a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour, has two lanes on each side.
It has a three-span prestressed concrete box girder structure and ranks among the top 10 bridges of its kind in the world.
