Accessing AIIB Project

A publicity event was held by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp. Ltd (CCEED) on May 22 to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the agreement of the 57 founding member countries of intention of the constitution of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

Nearly 100 people including student representatives from ten countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative like Zambia, Indonesia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Cameroon, Romania and Singapore, and from Peking University's School of International Studies, and participators in the AIIB project attended the event.

The AIIB is a key project of the Belt and Road construction.

Located at the central axis of Beijing, the AIIB building is one of the city's landmarks together with the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube.

It covers 6.1 hectares, used 11 tons of steel, twice that of the Bird's Nest, and is expected to last for as long as 100 years.

It was selected as a key demonstration project for green building and architecture industrialization for China's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) and as a national green construction demonstration project.

In addition, the project has been awarded the golden medal of Construction Steel Structure of China and won National Pioneer Workers Award and the Nationwide Civilized Youth Collectives.

During the event, participants in the AIIB project and the students shared their views on "youth", "dreams", "missions", "responsibilities", "opportunities" and "development". All attendees then visited the construction site of the AIIB project and learned how CCEED builders use China's intelligent manufacturing and innovations in their work.

The project is currently at the interior decoration stage and is expected to be completed by the end of September this year.
