The No 1 generating unit of the 2×300-megawatt circulating fluidized bed's coal-fired unit of the Balingian Coal-fired project passed the 30-day test operation and went into service on May 12.
Located at the middle area of Sarawak, 286 kilometers away from the region's capital of Kuching, the project is the largest and a landmark thermal power project in eastern Malaysia and the biggest circulating fluidized bed coal-fired plant in the country.
The No 1 generating unit was contracted by China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China Group) Tianjin Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd., and is a supporting section to the project.
The project will help relieve the local power shortage and promote economic development while improving living standards and increasing employment in affected areas.
