Updated: 2019-05-21

China Railway Signal & Communication Shanghai Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd. (CRSCS) recently won the bid to participate in the construction of the Hotan-Ruoqiang railway in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

CRSCS will purchase engineering equipment, carry out installation and adjustment of telecommunications, information and power support, and provide engineering vehicles and railway construction.

The Hotan-Ruoqiang railway is an artery in China's Mid-term and Long-term Railway Network Development Program.

The SDJC1 section CRSCS will participate in is 403.85 kilometers, from the Hotan prefecture and BayinGolin Mongol autonomous prefecture in the East to Hotan Station in the West, and will call at five stations - Luopu, Cele, Kuntian, Yutian and Minfeng.

The line will run along the north foot of the Kunlun Mountains and through the southern area of Taklimakan desert and connect to the Colmud-Korla line at Ruoqiang Station.

The designed speed of the railway is 120 kilometers per hour and the construction is scheduled to be completed on June 19, 2022.

Being a link between northern Xinjiang and inland cities, the new railway will improve the transportation situation in the area and will also support the formation of better land transport for such regions as Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan provinces, as well as the Tibet Autonomous Region, helping to obtain foreign resources and develop foreign markets.

CRSCS has participated in many key railway infrastructure construction projects since the building of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, such as the Gansu-Qinghai railway and the Lanzhou-Baoji railroad and basic network projects of the Urumqi Railway Bureau.

Its teams are now supporting the construction of the Altay-Zhundong railway and Lhasa-Nyingchi railway, which will support western China's opening-up to other cities and contribute to the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
