Construction of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway project begins on May 15, 2018
Construction of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, China's first overseas high-speed railway project, began on May 15, 2018.
The railroad was a key project of the Belt and Road Initiative promoted by China and Indonesia.
The 142.3-kilometer railway connects Jakarta, capital of Indonesia and Bandung and shortens the traveling time between them from more than three hours to 40 minutes, which relieves the local traffic pressure and optimizes the investment environment of contingent areas.
China Railway Group Limited is the largest investor and the contractor of the project. Other Chinese central SOEs including CRRC Corporation Limited and Power Construction Corporation of China also participated in the construction.

The FY-1D meteorological satellite and China's first oceanic satellite HY-1 were launched into orbit by the Long March-4B carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in North China's Shanxi province on May 15, 2002.
Since then, several oceanic satellites generally developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation have been launched and have played important roles in the exploitation and use of coastal and marine biological resources, as well as monitoring and prevention of oceanic pollution.
