World's First Million-kilowatt Hydro-generator Set Begins Concreting

The volute of the first million-kilowatt hydro-generator in the world started concrete pouring on May 4 at the Baihetan hydropower station.

A single hydro-generator of the set consists of 35 tubes. It is 38 meters' long and 31 meters' wide, weighs 620 tons and has a spiral curve of a maximum diameter of 8.6 meters.

The construction team has conquered the difficulties including the welding of the 800MPa high-strength steel large-diameter curves and the integral hoisting of the spiral construction socket ring since the project began in June 2018.
