Updated: 2019-05-14

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited, a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) recently won the bid for the construction of the Hong Kong Palace Museum.

The Hong Kong Palace Museum will be located at the West Kowloon Cultural District, neighboring Victoria Harbour. It will be the first structure outside the Chinese mainland with the name "the Palace Museum".

The total building area is about 43,000 sq m and the project includes a seven-floor main building and supporting facilities such as parking lots.

The Hong Kong Palace Museum is a main cultural project of the development plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

It will promote cooperation between the Palace Museum in Beijing and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority in various respects such as cultural relic exhibition, staff training and cultural exchanges.

In addition, the museum will be a way to deepen exchange between China and other countries and a platform on which the 7 million Hong Kong residents and the annual 20 million overseas tourists may learn about the Palace Museum and its culture.
