Power Transmission Line to Southern Angola Ready for Service

Updated: 2019-05-14

The main 400-kV transformer of the Dango substation in Angola recently passed a live operation test, confirming completion of the Lauca power line project.

The Dango substation is a main part of the project and will largely relieve power shortages in southern Angola.

The project, generally contracted by China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), affiliated to China National Machinery Industry Corporation Ltd, is the part of Angola's power grid transmitting electricity from the Lauca Hydroelectric Plant to the country's southern parts.

It will improve stability of the grid system and power distribution network in affected areas.

The project included setting up a 400 kilometers' 400 kV power line which runs through four provinces and expanding three substations - Lauca, Waco Kungo and Dango.
