The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce jointly held the Belt and Road Entrepreneur Conference during the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) in Beijing on April 25.
Xiao Yaqing, Chairman of SASAC, addressed the conference, urging strengthened implementation of President Xi Jinping's important remarks on joint efforts for Belt and Road construction and stressing that Chinese SOEs and foreign companies should seize the opportunity and work together to jointly contribute to the Belt and Road through practical cooperation.
Representatives from some Chinese central SOEs also made speeches at the conference.
According to Xiao, Chinese central SOEs have been engaged in 3,120 Belt and Road Initiative projects.
Xiao noted that Chinese central SOEs involved in those projects pay more attention to the high-quality growth in construction, their roles in leading and boosting local economy, enhancing complementary advantages and coordinated cooperation, promoting the construction of projects related to local people's well-being, and strengthening the environmental protection and resource conservation.
Through their participation in Belt and Road construction, Chinese central SOEs have sped up their internationalization and now play a key role in facilitating globalization.
Xiao stressed that SASAC and Chinese central SOEs will implement the spirit of President Xi's speech at the BRF, push forward Belt and Road projects step by step, and achieve high-quality development of Belt and Road construction inch by inch.
He added that they will also carry out tailored cooperation to further meet local needs, improve project management to build demonstration projects with high standards and high quality, explore more opportunities for cooperation to realize mutual benefit and win-win development, better fulfill their social responsibilities and act as excellent corporate citizens to contribute to the local economy and society.
More than 850 people from government departments, commerce associations, and enterprises from over 80 countries and regions and international organizations attended the conference.
After the conference, the participating Chinese central SOEs signed a group of project cooperation agreements at a business matchmaking event.
