The 18,000-ton central platform of Dongfang 13-2 gas field, the largest block in the western South China Sea, was installed on April 18, according to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).

Natural gas will be transported to areas including Hainan province, Guangdong province, Hong Kong and other places and provide the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with clean energy.

The main resource used to construct the comprehensive processing platform was a 30,000-ton T-type barge employing floatover marine installation technology of the Liwan 3-1 Gas Field.

CNOOC has performed well in both installation techniques and numbers of installation types, and has gained a world-leading reputation in floatover marine installations.

To date, CNOOC has mastered various kinds of floatover installation skills to deal with different conditions and has completed 25 such missions in which total installation weight exceeded 300,000 tons, equal to the weight of seven Bird's Nest stadiums.
