Chinese Petrol and Gas Companies Listed among Global 50 for Brand Value

Updated: 2019-04-12

Chinese top three petroleum companies are included in the World Top 50 list of enterprises with the highest petroleum and natural gas brand value recently released by Brand Finance, an international authority specializing in brand valuation.

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) ranks second, China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) is third and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) is the 21st.

Compared to last year's rankings, CNPC and Sinopec's ranks remain the same but their brand value has increased sharply, growing 18 percent and 23.3 percent respectively. Both of their rating rose from AA+ and AA to AAA-.

It's worth mentioning that Royal Dutch Shell has been at the top of the list for many years and is the only enterprise with brand value over $4 billion.

Although Chinese petroleum enterprises are still chasing Shell on the list, their brand values are increasing rapidly.

London-headquartered Brand Finance is a world-renowned third party consultancy focusing on brand value. It has nearly 30 branches worldwide and is among the top five brand value assessment institutes in the world.
